How does the Economics Olympiad work?

The Economics Olympiad consists of up to 4 rounds - school, regional (optional), national, and international.

School Round
Open to students with no economics learning! Students sit an online test. The top students advance to the next round.
Regional Round
Online or offline depending on the local situation.
National Round
A one-day event for the country’s 50 top contestants.
International Economics Olympiad
The 5 best students from each country will compete in the international round.

The Economics Olympiad is for high school students aged 14-20. No formal economics education is required to take part. But!…You can help yourself get on the road to success by reading EFI’s free edition of “Common Sense Economics” and browsing through our exciting library content.

The test was highly engaging and it emphasised basic logic over memorising. Through the Olympiad I discovered that economics is rooted in logic and common sense, making it practical for everyday life. I also see it as a solid foundation for beginner entrepreneurs.
