Too few education systems recognize the powerful and lifelong impact which an early education in economics and finance can have on everyone’s daily lives. The Economics Olympiad is the brainchild of the Institute of Economic Education (INEV) in the Czech Republic. Its purpose is to inspire interest in economics learning among teenagers. Today the Economics Olympiad is run in 7 countries. In 2023, Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) was delighted to bring the competition to a further 8 countries which saw 9,000 students enroll.
The Economics Olympiad consists of up to 4 rounds - school, regional (optional), national, and international.
Open to students with no economics learning! Students sit an online test. The top students advance to the next round.
